Annual Christmas Concert
The Grove City Community Winds and the Grove City Chamber Singers will kick off the holiday season with a combined concert for children of all ages at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Grove City High School, 4665 Hoover Road.
The annual Christmas concert will feature “A Night Before Christmas” collaboration between the band and Joe Glavin, band director Marysville Middle School; and one young audience member, age 6-12, will be selected via raffle to conduct the band for Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride." Santa is also scheduled to make an appearance.
The singers are led by Ellen Linn.
The concert is free and open to the public. Canned food and monetary donations to benefit the Grove City Food Pantry will be accepted.

Upcoming June Events
Trinity Lutheran Seminary on the campus of Capital University will be the site for the band's Tuesday, June 19 concert. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The Grove City Community Winds is traveling to Washington D.C. for a performance tour June 21-24. During the trip, GCCW will perform a joint concert with the Prince William Community Band at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 21 at the Sean T. Connaughton Community Plaza, 1 County Complex Court in Woodbridge, Va. The band is also slated to perform at the World War II Memorial during the trip.
The Grove City Community Winds will salute America's finest with a concert on the green at 7 p.m. Friday, May 25 at Pinnacle Golf Club, 1500 Pinnacle Club Dr. in Grove City.
The ensemble is conducted by Grove City's own James Swearingen. The concert will feature patriotic music in honor of Memorial Day, and the men and women of America's military.
Lawn seating is $5; table seating is $25, which includes a buffet dinner; free for children 12 and younger$ and free military admittance with military identification. Reservations are required for table seating. Call 614-539-0397 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.

270 by way of E.Main, E. Broad or Hamilton Rd South, or from 70 by way of Hamilton Rd North
Get to Hamilton Rd between Main and Broad Streets Turn East onto Kae Avenue or,
turn East onto Langley, then North on Martha Ln, then Right onto Kae
Turn Right into the old RMS parking lot
Drive toward the new RMS at the end of the parking lot
Park and enter the NEW RMS doors by the Gym.
A student will be there to meet you and let you in. Leave your cases, coats, etc. in the Choir room and then head to the Café/Gym area. (If you want to GPS it, use the old RMS address of 4735 Kae Ave, Whitehall, 43213)

After pulling into the school, drive across the front of the school and park in the east lot. Enter the school via the east set of double doors. The band room is straight back on the left. See you then!

Congratulations to the Grove City Community Winds for an outstanding performance at the OMEA Professional Development Conference on February 18, 2012!
The Grove City Community Winds will perform a joint concert with Karrer Middle School at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at the school, 7245 Tullymore Drive in Dublin.
Matthew Zuehlke is the band director at Karrer.
The band will perform a free concert at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15 at Brookpark Middle School, 2803 Southwest Blvd.
The ensemble's newly released CD will also be available for purchase at the event.
The Grove City Community Winds will present its annual spring concert at 7 p.m. May 10 at Central Crossing High School, 4500 Big Run South Road. The ensemble is conducted by James Swearingen and Phil Day. The performance will also feature the New Albany Community Concert Band, under the direction of Darren Falk. Music from West Side Story and traditional Sousa marches will be highlighted.
The concert is free and open to the public. Freewill offerings will be accepted.
GCCW member Jim Staten was recently honored by New Directions Career Center with a scholarship in his name. Staten is a retired South-Western City Schools administrator and a volunteer at NDCC. The “James R. Staten Scholarship" will assist job seekers who reside in the SWCS District. For more information or to contribute to the scholarship call NDCC at 614-849-0028.
